foulmouthedliberty:

Dr. Willie Parker grew up in a fundamentalist Christian family and did not provide abortion services in the first several years of his obstetrics practice. The more women he met, the more stories he heard, the more his concern shifted from his own discomfort with abortion to the women’s very real struggles.

If you have 10 minutes, it is a wonderful, wonderful interview. He mentions listening to Dr. King’s sermons, in particular about the Good Samaritan, and how those messages helped transform his convictions.

After 12 years, Dr. Parker expanded his practice to include abortion services. As he says, he eventually had the required compassion for his patients, but not a matching skill set, so he pursued training.

I would like to see if it’s possible to download sermons of MLK. I’ve never thought about it before. I’ve listened to many speeches & read a lot of his work, but I think it would be awesome to load some sermons on my MP3 player while I go for walks.

This is an amazing interview. I highly recommend sharing with anybody.
